Yahoo! Widget Engine 4.0 Is Sleek And Fun!

Posted by smanofsteel76 on March 23, 2007

Yahoo! released version 4.0 of its popular widget program yesterday.  I am really impressed!  It now sports a widget dock for easy access to your widgets which you can anchor to any side of your desktop.  It also features a Yahoo! Widget Gallery widget that allows you to find and download more widgets for your desktop.  As always you can hit F8 and your widgets will instantly be in front of all other windows so that you can view them easily.  I am really happy about this release and I have now completely switched from Google Desktop.  Yahoo! Widget Engine is the best out there now in my opinion.  To give this sleek and fun program a whirl, visit http://widgets.yahoo.com/.  Have fun widgetizing your desktop!

Malware sucks!

Posted by smanofsteel76 on March 23, 2007

Its been awhile since I have blogged and I am happy to say that I am back.  Unfortunately, over the weekend I accidently downloaded some malware that kept making my computer slow and opening IE7.  I had to delete Windows and start over again.  I’m glad to be back!

Jericho almost gets help!

Posted by smanofsteel76 on March 15, 2007

Last night’s Jericho saw the coming of U.S. Marines to bring aid to towns in Kansas including Jericho.  We found later on that they were impersonators going from town to town to con supplies out of them.  We also got to see a brutal stand off between Hawkins and his ex-girl friend.  This was a very suspenseful fight and I can’t wait to see what happens next as Hawkins impersonates the traitor that was once his girlfriend.  So what’s next for the people of Jericho?  Will they find that “X factor” to get through the winter?  Will Hawkins have a face-off with the people that are after him?  Leave your predictions in the comments section.  Please no spoilers, just fun predictions!

MP3tunes.com Is A Great Way To Store Music And Access It Anywhere!

Posted by smanofsteel76 on March 15, 2007

I thought I would spend a moment to blog today about a web site that I find very useful: Mp3tunes.com.  This handy site allows you to upload and sync your entire music collection via Oboe, a small program that is available on the site that does all the work for you…and the best part…you get unlimited space.  Mp3tunes.com is also a great way to access your music if you are not at home but have access to the internet.  I am actually away from home as I am writing this and I am listening to my music as if I was at home.  Mp3tunes.com is definitely worth checking out!  Go to http://www.mp3tunes.com/.  Have fun!

Blogging From Oak Lawn Today!

Posted by smanofsteel76 on March 15, 2007

As I write this I am here in Oak Lawn visiting Jenny and Mike.  I got a free cup of Starbucks Coffee today so I am climbing the walls from my caffeine high.  I also had my usual white chocolate mocha before my commute here, so that’s two cups of strong great tasting Starbucks for those of you counting.  Oh well, not much else to say except leave me comments.  I love comments.

Lovely Rita Is The Next To Go!

Posted by smanofsteel76 on March 9, 2007

That time has come for survivor to shed another castaway.  This week Rita got voted out after she got her ass kicked during the reward challenge.  Rocky couldn’t stand her conversations and I guess everyone else got sick of her.  Ravu came so close winning immunity this weak but Moto remained undefeated when they broke the tie during the immunity challenge.  What I think was even better than that were the previews for the next episode where it appears as if there is going to be a classic Survivor switch up.  Its about time because I am sick of watching one tribe kick the asses of the other tribe every week.  Survivor is set to return on March 21 and I am guessing it will be a recap episode which means that the next episode could be 3 weeks away.  Until then, stay tuned!

Its Beginning To Feel A Lot Like…Spring?

Posted by smanofsteel76 on March 8, 2007

The Chicago area is now at the beginning of a much needed warm-up. Together with the time change over to Daylight Savings Time on Sunday morning, I think its beginning to feel more like Spring. The picture below is Steve Baskerville’s 5 Day from CBS 2’s web site. I think its time to dig out the Spring jackets! Anyone have any Spring-like comments?

Moving To Westmont!

Posted by smanofsteel76 on March 6, 2007

Well, I found out this week that I am going to be moving at the end of the month into another apartment in Westmont.  Its been great living in Downers Grove and I hope for the same comfort in the next town over.  The good thing is I will not be moving that far.  I thought I would now ask you, my readers, do you like where you live?  Has anyone moved recently?  Leave me comments!

Prison Break: Michael And Lincoln Get Pardoned? Thoughts?

Posted by smanofsteel76 on March 6, 2007

Last night’s Prison Break really had me at the end. I thought for sure Michael and Lincoln were going to get a pardon from President Reynolds. When she announced that she had cancer and would be stepping down, I felt for Michael and Lincoln. Now what are they going to do? What does the future hold for Prison Break? Feel free to leave some comments with any opinions, thoughts, etc. Please, no spoilers. I look forward to hearing your ideas!

Beryl Makes Linux Look Great!

Posted by smanofsteel76 on March 5, 2007

I would like to take this opportunity to write about my favorite Linux app: Beryl. Beryl is something that has made me want to switch to Linux from Windows. Beryl turns your desktop into a visual masterpiece. Beryl puts your desktops in a cube and allows you to rotate the cube with your mouse. Another feature of Beryl is a theme manager your windows called Emerald. You can stretch windows with Beryl. There are more window effects and I could sit here and try to write about them. However, Beryl is something that needs to be seen. Right now I have a Windows Vista theme on my Linux desktop. I have to ask the question, will the Beryl app on Linux give Windows Vista a run for its money visually? I tend to think it will. I am kind of new to Linux but I believe Beryl is still being perfected. When its finished, I think Linux will be much more visually appealing than Windows. For more information on Beryl, visit http://www.beryl-project.org/ and as always feel free to leave comments. Enjoy!
